What are the responsibilities and job description for the CST - Certified Scrub Tech position at Henry Community Health?
Responsibilities
- Works under general supervision in preparing and maintaining the sterile operative area of the patient before, during, and after operation.
- Places equipment and supplies in OR according to surgeon's preference cards.
- Assists during surgery in a number of ways such as to don gowns and gloves, adjust surgical equipment, hand surgeon instruments, hold retractors and count sponges, needles, and instruments used during the operation.
- Keep surgeons preference card information current.
- Able to clean, decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments and supplies.
- Cross trained to function adequately in C.S. and receiving and decontamination.
Qualifications
- Work requires proficiency in the application of sterile procedures in an operating room setting.
- This is acquired after graduation from a surgical technology program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health education and accreditation.
- Work requires immediate response to emergency procedures which requires individual to respond within thirty minutes to the Hospital, as well as have a phone.
