What are the responsibilities and job description for the BUSINESS ANALYST I position at Henry County Government?
The purpose of this position is to develop a deep understanding of Henry County Department processes and technological needs and identify how best to meet those needs. This includes working with Department stakeholders and technology areas to gather requirements for development and management.
- Works between Department stakeholders and IT development teams to identify, verify, and document functional and technical requirements using requirements management methodologies and tools; facilitates service level agreement negotiations between Departments and IT by ensuring that the correct Department representatives participate and understand the impact.
- Develops deep understanding of Henry County Department processes and develop/maintain business process documentation. Analyzes existing and research new products, procedures, and/or workflow needs associated with a department’s applications and technical solutions; leverages understanding of Department processes and industry related policies to identify business risks and impacts to technology changes.
- Assists Development team in translating business requirements into design specifications and technical requirements. Assists in identification and resolution of gaps between new and existing business processes and applications. Assists Department stakeholders with user acceptance testing and the development of Department user test cases and scenarios.
- Trains and provides technical guidance to professional and technical staff assigned to application testing. Ensures quality of functionality testing by other application testers; provides or coordinates user training; provides standards and operating guidelines.
- Documents business processes or systems, assessing business model and its integration with technology. Designs information systems requirements to help ensure the county operates efficiently and effectively as possible. Provides visibility into tracking of deliverables.
- Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes, and per established procedures; receives and reviews various documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards, or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including system documentation, diagrams, training materials, performance appraisals, and project timelines; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
- Operates or uses various equipment and supplies in order to complete work assignments; operates and maintains a motor vehicle and other power or motorized equipment; operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review, or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
- Communicates with County officials, supervisor, other employees, clients, third party service contractors, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field; and three (3) years of related experience as a Business Analyst, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses or Certifications:
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires mental acuity including the ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, the ability to express ideas by means of the spoken word and have close visual acuity.

Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, heights, confined spaces, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, or bright/dim lights.
