About the Role:
The Bus Monitor plays a vital role in ensuring the safe transportation of preschool students. As a key member of the transportation team, this individual will be responsible for maintaining order on school buses, documenting student information, and communicating effectively with various stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities:
- Use discipline strategies to maintain order on school buses
- Collaborate with school drivers to ensure smooth operations
- Document student information and complete route surveys
- Ensure seat belts, harnesses, and wheelchair clamps are securely fastened
- Communicate with classroom aides, teachers, principals, and parents regarding student needs
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emergency evacuation procedures
- Assist handicapped children on and off the bus, and escort them safely across the street upon return home
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Age requirement of 16 years old (for financial compensation)
- Pass an initial physical examination and tuberculosis test as required by Kentucky laws and regulations
- Complete annual training as specified by 702 KAR 5:150
