Overview
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
Ensures all processing, storeroom, distribution, and financial policies are implemented to provide all departments with supplies and equipment. Responsible for restocking departments with needed supplies and adjusting stock levels according to needs. Ability to work with various supply companies using order entry programs to purchase supplies and equipment for the hospital. Maintain par levels of supplies to an acceptable level and within budget.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees the distribution of supplies according to established par levels and/or special requests.
- Oversees the establishment of inventory minimum and maximum levels of official inventory and financial responsibility associated with it.
- Coordination with all users of supplies in the hospital to ensure their needs are met.
- Assures compliance with all state board of health and rules and regulations pertaining to the department.
- Analysis of non-stock inventory levels and the establishment of control systems to maintain acceptable levels.
- Writing, implementing and adhering to department related policies and procedures. Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures that interface with the central supply department.
- Review and make appropriate recommendations for new supplies and equipment. Participates in the evaluation of new products and makes recommendations for product conversions.
- Foster good intradepartmental relations by periodic visits to departments ascertain needs and solve problems.
- Keep accurate records regarding all department functions and invoices.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, staff and self by complying with organizational policies and procedures related to infection control and by attending and completing mandatory training and education. Maintain safe workspace.
- Maintains a working knowledge of manufacturers, vendors and new supplies and equipment.
- Proactive in preventing potential environmental threats such as physical safety, body mechanics, staff identification, etc. Identifies and reports potential and/or real risk situations to supervisor.
- Recognize and respond to emergency situations (i.e. Code Red, Code Blue, Disaster Drill, etc.) following organizational policies and procedures.
- Report all safety concerns, accidents, incidents, medication errors and injuries to the supervisor or manager. Complete and submit the appropriate incident report form. Report reportable events according to state and federal law and in accordance with organizational policy.
- Adhere to the organization’s policies, procedures as well as state and federal laws, regulations and accreditation standards applicable to the role.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Four year degree preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a hospital central supply or material management department.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid state driver's license
