General Summary:
Department: Cardiac Cath Lab
Schedule: 40hrs, Day Shift, 6:30am - 3:30pm2, Monday - Friday
Assists with procedures to analyze, diagnose and treat the cardiovascular system.
- Prepares patients for procedures. Reviews medical history, positions patients and cleans/shaves/numbs testing sites as appropriate.
- Interprets, describes and reports test results. Recognizes recording errors, artifacts and reacts appropriately.
- Monitors patient prior to, during and after procedures and promptly reports any abnormal findings in patient's condition.
- Prepares and maintains equipment, supplies and lab area. Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly department.
- Ensures equipment is properly functioning.
- Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel and lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
- May prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited program in Allied Health Sciences (e.g., Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Exercise Science, or Cardiac or Vascular Sonography, or equivalent academic program and experience.)
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or Radiology Technologist (ARRT) with Cardiac Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI).
- Valid BCLS certification required/ACLS certification required within six (6) months of hire.
