What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physician Assistant Orthopedic Surgery Inpatient Detroit Full Time Days position at Henry Ford Health System?
- This position will be Monday through Friday during daytime hours. There is no weekend or call component to the position.
- This position would support the Detroit hospital campus for all orthopedic specialties requiring inpatient and ER consultations, not limited to but including fracture/dislocation reduction, splinting/casting, wound care management, and suturing.
- Candidate will need to be comfortable working with residents and other APP's
- Day position Monday-Friday, no weekends or call, but may need to assist with OITE coverage annually.
- This will be a position in transition to creating an APP-led inpatient service.
- The Physician Assistant (PA) will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- The Physician Assistant (PA) will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families.
- Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care. Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience.
- There is no operative first assist requirement.
- The individual will perform inpatient rounding during the morning, complete progress notes, and work with podiatric residents.
- The ideal candidate would have at least 3 year of experience in orthopedics.
- The Specialty/Invasive Physician Assistant (PA) will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- The Specialty/Invasive PA will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families.
- Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care.
- Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree or Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program. Must be eligible or have obtained a DEA number for prescriptive authority in Michigan.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Requires Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National. Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current ACLS/BLS as required.
- Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.
