Events Coordinator

ABOUT HENRY KAUFMANN CAMPGROUNDS (HKC)

Home to 11 independently run JCC day camps, the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds is a small non-profit which manages and operates three facilities dedicated to summer day camping located in Long Island, Rockland County and Staten Island. Our mission is to support our camps and let all children who attend them have a great and fulfilling summer while providing a safe environment.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN EVENTS COORDINATOR

The Events Coordinator serves as the HKC representative to the event organizer and participants, ensuring that HKC policies are followed and the building is functioning properly. Upon arrival, the Events Coordinator unlocks the facility, ensures that everything is functioning properly, that equipment, such as bleachers or tables, are set up properly, and that everything is clean and the bathrooms are properly stocked. During the event the event coordinator will often have down time but must always be available to the event organizer to assist with any facility issues that arise, and is responsible for bringing any violations of HKC rules and regulations to the event organizer's attention to resolve. At the end of the event, the coordinator makes sure all the trash is picked up, the bathroom is in good shape, and that the event organizer confirms that all the participants have left.

Note: events are typically scheduled for weekends or weekday evenings.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN EVENTS COORDINATOR

This position requires a patient individual who is confident working alone, and who is motivated to provide great customer service while ensuring safety standards are followed. The event coordinator should have the ability to stand their ground when enforcing HKC policies but also be able to deescalate and resolve conflict.

This person will be required to have CPR/First Aid certification (HKC will certify you) and a driver's license is preferred.

Applicants should have hands-on experience in a customer facing role and have the ability to work evenings and weekends. Are you able to accept guidance, direction, and supervision from others?

WORK SCHEDULE

The Events Coordinator position is perfect for someone looking for part-time work to supplement their income. Most events are scheduled in advance but you may be asked provide event coverage for a last minute rental. Events can be from anywhere from four to eight hours. In this role, typically you are busiest at the start and end of the event.
