About the Role: The Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds is seeking a skilled Maintenance Professional to join its Long Island site. This full-time, year-round position involves living on the grounds in company-provided housing and safeguarding the property during off-hours. As a key member of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep of our 325-acre facility, including the grounds, buildings, and swimming pools.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years' experience working as a caretaker, maintenance technician, or in a similar capacity. A valid driver's license and ability to obtain OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid Certification are also required. You will work closely with the leadership team, consisting of the Property Manager, Site Superintendent, and Assistant Site Superintendent. Your tasks may include mowing, painting, assisting with vehicle or equipment repair, working on water or sewage issues, carpentry work, removing trash, blowing leaves, and using equipment such as leaf blowers, weed whackers, ride-on deck mowers, or skid steers.
A Day in the Life: As a Maintenance Technician/Resident Caretaker, your responsibilities will vary based on the season. In the winter, you will assist with winterizing the facilities, deep cleaning, and repairs. During the spring, you will help prepare the grounds for the new season. Throughout the summer, you will maintain the property, handling tasks such as pool upkeep, trash removal, and responding to visitor queries. As the off-hours custodian, you will conduct rounds daily, checking for signs of trespassers, vandalism, and ensuring doors and gates are locked.
In addition to your technical skills, you must be able to handle tasks that involve prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and stretching, as well as eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate equipment. You will also need to be comfortable working outdoors daily, exposed to the sun and heat in the summer.
