Maintenance Technician/Resident Caretaker
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Maintenance Technician/Resident Caretaker at our Long Island site.
About the Position
This is a full-time, year-round position that requires living on the grounds in company-provided housing. As the Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance of our 325-acre facility, including grounds, buildings, and swimming pools.
As the Resident Caretaker, you will be the off-hours custodian of the entire campground property, responding to visitors, vendors, contractors, and/or trespassers as needed.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years' experience as a caretaker, maintenance technician, or similar capacity, working hands-on with a team to ensure a safe work environment consistent with OSHA regulations.

Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds is a small non-profit organization that manages and operates three facilities located in Long Island, Rockland County, and Staten Island.

A Day in the Life
- Assist with maintenance tasks such as mowing, painting, vehicle or equipment repair, plumbing, carpentry, and janitorial services.
- Work with a team to ensure a safe work environment consistent with OSHA regulations.
- Conduct rounds checking the property for signs of trespassers, vandalism, and ensure doors and gates are locked.
- Be on call to respond to emergencies.
Management and Work Schedule
The leadership team consists of the Property Manager, Site Superintendent, and Assistant Site Superintendent.
This job requires working in-person, with a 35-hour workweek on weekdays, usually starting at 7:00am.
Additional hours may be required during peak season, including weekends and extended days.
Requirements
The ideal candidate must have:
- At least 2 years' experience as a caretaker, maintenance technician, or similar capacity.
- Valid driver's license.
- OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Working knowledge of general maintenance and janitorial services.
- More technical experience in carpentry, plumbing, vehicle and machinery operation, or framing and roofing.
- Ability to handle tasks that require prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and stretching; eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate equipment.
