Take a leadership role in advancing injury prevention research with the groundbreaking PREVAIL study at the prestigious United States Military Academy, West Point. As the Clinical Research Manager , you’ll play a vital part in managing the design, implementation, and execution of clinical research protocols focused on predictive injury evaluations in cadets. Your efforts will contribute to developing cutting-edge injury risk screening tools by integrating static (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis), dynamic (markerless gait analysis), and psychometric (resilience) assessments.

In this role, you’ll oversee patient recruitment, informed consent, and data collection, working closely with cadets and medical professionals. You’ll collaborate with orthopaedic surgeons, physical therapists, and researchers within the dynamic environment of Keller Army Community Hospital, home to the renowned John A. Feagin Jr. Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship and Army Baylor Sports Medicine Physical Therapy Fellowship. Your contributions will extend beyond the study as you mentor staff, manage data quality, and ensure adherence to ethical standards.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient records, screen for protocol eligibility, and conduct interviews to assess suitability for research participation. Obtain informed consent and educate participants on their roles in the study.
  • Identify problems in research design or methodology and analyze trends in patient reactions to treatments.
  • Organize, catalog, and maintain patient data, ensuring accurate and efficient record-keeping for ongoing and future studies.
  • Act as a case manager and liaison between patients and physicians, ensuring clear communication and support throughout the research process.
  • Prepare, maintain, and resolve queries related to data in patient study books and case report forms, providing detailed statistical and descriptive data for research reports.
  • Schedule patient appointments and assist with audits or site visits for research protocols. Travel to support study protocols at additional sites as required.
  • Supervise and mentor staff, providing input on hiring decisions, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations. Act as a lead resource for ensuring protocol adherence and training for clinical research practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including attending required training and supporting additional research initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Serve as assigned lead for the clinical research team, recommending hiring, disciplinary actions, and starting salaries.
  • Provide input on performance evaluations, supporting team development and ensuring adherence to study protocols and organizational standards.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in in health sciences, clinical research, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 9-10 years experience required.

Or

  • Master's Degree in in health sciences, clinical research, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Expertise in federal and local regulations governing research involving human subjects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with individuals at all levels.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and data management tools for research purposes.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex protocols to patients and staff clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Operating motor vehicles and golf carts (to transport participants) as necessary.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in a clinical setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $73,800 - $82,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.

Salary : $73,800 - $82,000
