Join the HJF Team!

HJF is seeking a highly motivated Post-Baccalaureate Research Assistant I , with strong interests in translational cancer research to join a dynamic research team. The Post-baccalaureate Research Assistant I will be responsible for conducting research projects in collaboration with a research team consisting of scientific and clinical investigators. Candidates should have interests in molecular biology and in identifying novel biomarkers in prostate cancer. Career building opportunities include development of scientific presentations, technical research skills, experimental design and writing skills.

This position will be in support of the Dr. Cara Schafer laboratory at the Murtha Cancer Center Research Program's (MCCRP) Center for Prostate Disease Research (CPDR). The Schafer lab focuses on uncovering immune biomarkers and spatiotemporal immunogenomic relationships in the tumor micro-environment. The lab aims to elucidate molecular mechanisms and biomarkers in the field of cancer immunology, single-cell and spatial multi-omics, and cancer metabolism. In understanding how the immune system changes over time, in both the tumor and in circulation, with disease progression and in response to military and environmental exposures, we anticipate that this can be leveraged therapeutically. CPDR has a close collaboration with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) – Genitourinary Malignancies Branch (GMB), where Dr. Schafer also has an adjunct appointment.
