HJF is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in support of basic research in the Department of Anatomy, Physiology & Genetics at Uniformed Services University (USU) in Bethesda MD. The incumbent will be responsible for initiating and carrying out research projects in collaboration with a team and to work on assessments and treatments for traumatic brain injury in both lissencephalic and gyrencephalic animal models. A number of experimental scenarios are available including changes in brain gene/protein expression, neuropathology/histology, multiple types of imaging (MRI, PET), biochemical and behavioral analysis.
This position will be in support of the Department of Anatomy, Physiology & Genetics at Uniformed Services University (USU) in Bethesda, MD.

Responsibilities
- Assists in designing, developing, executing, and implementing scientific research and/or development.
- Performs specialized laboratory research using experimental protocols involving specialized procedures.
- Collects and handles samples and keeps detailed records of experiments.
- Assists with the preparation of data for presentations at scientific meetings and for publication in journals.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Doctoral degree
- Minimum of 0-5 years experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of appropriate scientific area.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.
Work Environment
- This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.
Compensation
- The annual salary range for this position is $50,100-$75,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
