Job Summary:
The Manager of Plant Operations is responsible for plant management; planning and directing the maintenance and repair of major plant equipment; and oversees engineering staff and functions. Manages Hospital plant operations such as repair, maintenance, and environmental services; while maintaining the efficiency of the Plant. Maintains the Physical Structures, HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical Systems, and Utilities of the hospital in a safe and operative working condition. Manages and directs the activities and workloads of various levels of assigned staff, manages budgets using professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.
Licensure and Certification:
- Facility Manager (CFM) or Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) certification preferred
- Valid CA driver’s license
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Master’s degree preferred
Experience:
- At least 7 years of plant operations experience; preferably in healthcare setting
- Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook and ability to learn computerized maintenance management systems
- Demonstrated understanding of power plant operations, with a strong understanding of maintenance functions
- Strong oral and written communication skills; fosters open communication with team members
- Ability to promotes collaboration within and across teams; motivates teams to meet business objectives.
- Knowledge of fire life safety systems, hazardous materials, and utility management
- Ability to make accurate observations in a variety of situations, including emergencies and adverse or potential hazardous conditions
- Ability to use sound reasoning and judgment to resolve issues
- Knowledge of CMS, State/City, and regulatory requirements
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural, safety systems, and energy management
- Ability to interpret applicable codes/laws such as California Building Codes, Public Contract Code, California Code of Regulations, Title 22, DIR Labor Code, etc.
- Ability to analyze and improve business processes

- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level
