Job Summary:
Responsible for the 24 hour, day-to- day operations and management of central services and materials management operations; and other assigned areas Responsible for monitoring supply costs; inventory and cost benefit analysis; evaluating alternatives and making suggestions with regards to inventory operations. Supports Value Analysis Committees. Collaborates with Director, Materials Management to assure appropriate vetting and identification of expense reduction opportunities and discuss tactics to avoid cost increases. Support contract compliance of hospital product standardization related to perpetual inventories and PAR supplies managed by Central Supply.
Licensure and Certification:
- Certified Materials Resource Professional (CMRP) is preferred
Education:
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred with major in business administration, supply chain or accounting
- Combination of college classes, with emphasis on business administration, supply chain or accounting; and hospital supply chain experience will also be considered.
- LEAN certification or completing some LEAN classes is highly preferred
Experience:
- Three (3) years supervisory experience in hospital material management, central services, and/or supply chain.
- Five (5) years hospital experience with proven experience in inventory management.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of leadership and management theories, principles, practices, techniques and methods.
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Skilled use of MS Office to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Knowledge of fundamental use of an MMIS (Materials Management Information System)
- Must have knowledge of inventory management practices, to include a thorough understanding of inventory flows
- Must have knowledge of periodic automated replenishment (PAR) system and Kanban systems
- Ability to foster teamwork, work with employees with various educational levels knowing their limitations, strengths and weaknesses
- Ability to listen effectively, considers all points of view and effectively solves problems
- Skilled at maintaining personal accountability for projects and deliverables

- Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.
- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
