Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, CLS/MLT designee, the Laboratory Technician is responsible for assisting the CLS with processing and loading automated tests, running controls, calibrations, and instrument maintenance and troubleshooting

Licensure and Certification:

• Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT1) preferred

Education:

• Associates or bachelors degree in an allied health discipline preferred

Experience:

• 1-2 years previous experience preferred
• Previous on the job experience in a lab setting and phlebotomy experience preferred
• Previous experience with lab specimen processing and micro set ups highly desirable. Chemistry &/or hematology automated instrumentation/lab equipment experience highly desirable.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing with the ability to follow written & verbal instructions without constant supervision.

• Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.
• Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
• Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.
• Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.
• Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties.
