Pay Range: RESPIRATORY CARE SPECIALIST II - $32.41 to $51.86
Job Summary:
The Respiratory Care Specialist II performs all respiratory therapy core modalities for critical, non-critical and chronically ill patients under the direction of a physician and with minimal supervision. Performs various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures in all areas of the Hospital. In addition to performing all respiratory therapy core modalities, the Respiratory Care Specialist II is a hybrid role that requires independently assisting the Interventional Pulmonary physicians with various procedures such as EBUS, robotic bronchoscopies, tumor debulking, stend placement, etc.
Licensure and Certification:
- Current CA RCP license
- Current BLS provider card
- Current PALS provider card
Education:
- AS degree in Respiratory Therapy
Experience:
- Two (2) years clinical respiratory experience
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in assisting with Interventional pulmonary procedures
Knowledge and Skills:
- Competent in use of all respiratory therapy modalities
- Knowledge of pulmonary physiology/anatomy, and advanced bronchoscopic procedures
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Strong time management skills
- Problem solving skills
- Basic computer skills
Equipment:
- Competent in use of oxygen therapy equipment, mechanical ventilators and BIPAP.
- Ability to confidently use respiratory therapy equipment, as well as bronchoscopy and other interventional pulmonary related equipment and supplies
- Non-invasive ventilation
Physical Demands – Patient Care:
- Continuous standing/walking and occasional/intermittent sitting.
- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and shoulder level to handle/operate medical equipment/devices.
- Frequent reaching above shoulder level and overhead.
- Frequent forward bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling; occasional climbing.
- Occasional repositioning and transferring patients weighing up to 200 pounds between bed, chair, and gurney.
- Occasional lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional/intermittent pushing of gurneys, wheelchairs, bed and other medical equipment over tiled and carpeted surfaces.
- Continuous use of near vision to read medical equipment such as monitoring devices and reading documents and computer screens; hearing and verbal communication to interact with patients, co-workers, and other customers.
