Job Description:
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for a variety of accounting-related tasks and helps to manage all forms of financial accounts for the company. The position requires strong analytical skills, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively prioritize and balance assignments. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the manufacturing industry, be self-motivated and demonstrate a strong work ethic and dependability.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation, analysis and verification of accounting records, financial statements, and reports to ensure accuracy and adherence to reporting and procedural standards.
- Maintain the general ledger operations and support the month end close process.
- Assist with budget development and financial forecasting.
- Monitor and analyze budget variances.
- Perform payroll functions, becoming the Paylocity expert.
- Assist accounts payable functions to ensure accuracy and timely payments.
- Reconcile employee expense reports and credit card statements.
- Perform accounts receivable functions to process and reconcile invoices and payments on a timely basis.
- Learn the new ERP system and process daily transactions.
- Assist in physical inventories.
- Process daily banking transactions.
- Assist in balance sheet monthly reconciliations.
- Other assigned task to aid in the daily operations of the accounting department.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Associate degree in accounting and four years’ experience in general accounting practices required.
- Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is a plus.
- Demonstrated skills in accounting, knowledge of standard accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Solid understanding of).
- Demonstrated skills in payroll administration and processing.
- Understanding of Federal, State and Local Tax laws related to wage withholding and deposits.
- Demonstrated analytical skills.
- Strong skills in spreadsheets and Excel.
- Proficiency with current computer technology and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to determine priorities, track progress, and manage time effectively to accomplish objectives.
- Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information with discretion.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and achieve a high degree of accuracy when accomplishing tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with 3rd party Payroll Systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Ability to hear, speak, write, and type in English.
- Ability to bend, twist, reach, kneel, climb stairs, and lift 20 lbs.
- Regular attendance from 8 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday, is an essential job function.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
