Duties and Responsibilities
1. Docent Hiring, Scheduling and Supervision:
- Recruit, hire and on-board new Docents.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment for docent volunteers.
- Recognize and appreciate docent contributions through volunteer appreciation events and other initiatives.
- Address docent concerns and resolve conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain volunteer records.
- Schedule and supervise Docent Training.
- Create and maintain a docent schedule that ensures adequate coverage for regular tours, special tours, and public programs.
- Deliver tours, as needed.
- Assign docents to specific tours or programs based on their expertise and availability.
- Regularly communicate with docents to provide updates, address concerns, and provide feedback on performance.
- Conduct periodic evaluations to assess docents' performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
2. Visitor Engagement and Satisfaction:
- Ensure that docents provide exceptional visitor experiences by delivering engaging and informative tours, answering questions, and fostering a welcoming environment.
- Monitor visitor feedback and implement necessary improvements to enhance visitor satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the marketing department to promote docent-led tours and programs to increase visitor participation.
3. Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of docent contact information, training attendance, and performance evaluations.
- Prepare and manage the docent program budget, including expenses related to training, materials, and recognition.
- Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and reports related to the docent program.
- Bachelor's degree in education, museum studies, history, art history, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in volunteer management, education, or museum work.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse audiences.
