Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Yard Driver to join our team. The Yard Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers within the yard.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Collects key for scheduled trucks to be loaded.
• Communicates with transportation and maintenance teams regarding changes.
• Inspects equipment for locks, cleanliness, major repair items, cooler/freezer temps.
• Hook and unhook trailers as needed.
• Sets and confirms correct reefer temperatures.
• Moves truck trailer combinations to and from appropriate loading docks and staging areas.
• Maintains staging of several trucks throughout the shift.
• Plug trucks in during winter months.
• Serve as back-up to receive transportation calls.
• Assist night warehouse operations by loading or unloading trailers.
• Assist in shop as needed.
• Back-up shuttle drivers.
• Cleans dock area.
• Informed immediate supervisor of needed equipment repairs.
• All other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

• This job may require directing one other employee.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Communication skills demonstrating positivity, respectfulness, and conciseness.
• Willingness and ability to adapt to changing schedules.
• Previous Commercial Motor Vehicle experience or related Professional Truck Driver training
• Available to work any day of the week.
• Ability to communicate and interact respectfully and positively with team members, managers, and customers.
• Ability and agreement to accept last minute changes to schedule to cover sick calls and emergencies.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Minimum of three months related experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to understand, read, speak, and write the English language to the extent of being able to complete all job duties.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to communicate clearly and positively in one-on-one setting.

REASONING

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Class A CDL with double and triple endorsement.
• Current Medical Card
• Acceptable driving record

SCHEDULE

Monday - Friday 11:00 am-8:00pm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
