We are looking for a Buyer to select and purchase lines of products on behalf of Henry's Foods, Inc. The quality and variety of products are essential for our success. Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong vendor relations to ensure partnership is maximized.
- Source product that will create value and excitement for our customers, impact company success, maintain profitable growth and sustain our competitive advantage.
- Maintain item selection and SKU count.
- Establish and maintain accurate price and margin integrity.
- Ensure aggressive pricing and shipping costs are achieved and fill rate goals are met based on category plan.
- Effective communication of product updates, data and overall category marketing strategy to the sales team.
- Create and implement plans for category product assortment, pricing, promotion, planograms, advertising, and logistics to maximize sales and profitability while maintaining responsible inventory valuations.
- Reconcile and maintain records of items purchased and received, costs, delivery charges, inventories, sell by dates, expiration dates, and movement.
- Consistently analyze categories and selection to ensure products are performing well, earning their space and ROI.
- Evaluate and report on the performance of products.
- Interpret category sales, procurement, and product trends.
- Review category opportunities and negotiate to achieve best cost of goods.
- Ensure best procurement practices are established and maintained.
- Secure an in-depth knowledge of the market by visiting our retailers, competition, trade shows and studying industry data and news.
Skills
- Experience within the wholesale/retail consumer product goods industry, preferably in the convenience, grocery, or food service trade.
- Knowledge of the wholesale food industry including c-store, grocery and food service trade and inclusive of the relevant product assortment, retail players and wholesalers.
- Proven experience as a buyer or relevant role
- Outstanding communication abilities
- Excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrable aptitude in effective negotiating
- Up to speed with purchasing best practices
- Familiarity with market research, data analysis and forecasting techniques
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of purchasing software.
- High school diploma; BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field is a plus.
- Skilled in judgment and decision making.
- Skilled in learning strategies (selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning new things).
- Skilled in negotiation and win-win approach to vendor management.
- Skilled in customer service contact and working with vendors
- Ability to stay on task, multi-task, prioritize tasks efficiently, and follow through with each item.
- Ability to communicate well, maintain interpersonal relationships.
- Excellent math skills.
- Ability to learn new software applications as needed
- Problem solver and ability to perform in a fast-paced high stress position.
