Position Overview:
Our client is a privately-held company with 15 locations across Pennsylvania and 70 years of success in serving customers in the retail industry. The company has grown to employ 1,000 staff members and over $150 million in annual revenue. The Chief Financial Officer opportunity is open due to the retirement of the organization’s long-standing CFO, who will cross train and support the new hire for several months. The new CFO will have opportunities that span beyond management of daily accounting and finance functions and will be heavily involved in strategic decision-making, development of accounting and finance processes, and work directly with the President to drive profitability and growth of the business.
Our client is looking to hire a hands-on accounting professional who can manage month-end close while driving profitability in a multi-site environment, efficiently influence and facilitate change within accounting and finance, and build relationships with operational leaders to drive the business. Additionally, the CFO will oversee accounting staff, manage banking relationships, oversee insurance processes and 401k program, and assist with systems and IT initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and implement accounting procedures and internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
- Perform month-end close process and prepare monthly internal financial statements and reports.
- Coordinate the annual audit and tax distributions to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintain a rolling seven-year financial projection to support strategic planning.
- Develop and maintain strong banking relationships.
- Secure funding for acquisitions and opportunities to support business growth.
- Monitor cash balances and prepare financial forecasts.
- Oversee property and casualty (P&C) insurance coverage; evaluate carriers and assess brokers for optimal coverage.
- Serve as a member of the company safety committee and maintain annual certification documentation.
- Coordinate and monitor accident investigations related to general liability claims.
- Collaborate with HR on workers’ compensation insurer evaluation and broker assessment.
- Administer the 401(k) program, evaluate providers, and serve on the investment committee; coordinate 401(k) audits and 5500 filings; act as named fiduciary.
- Work with HR to evaluate teammate benefit plans and assess brokers.
- Coordinate corporate office computer networks and systems in conjunction with external IT service providers.
- Purchase, maintain, and troubleshoot corporate office and store manager computers and accessories.
- Work with the President to determine IT strategy and make decisions regarding IT materials and initiatives.
- Assist the President in evaluating business growth and acquisition opportunities.
- Perform other related and reasonable duties as necessary.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience in a mid-sized company.
- Previous experience managing banking relationships
- At least 5 years of experience leading an accounting department and staff.
- Accounting experience in a multi-site environment is highly preferred
- Experience in the retail industry is a plus.
- Strong computer skills, including intermediate proficiency in Excel and Word; prior experience with accounting software.
- Solid understanding of computer technology and the ability to learn new software quickly.

Total Rewards:
Base Compensation: $150,000 - $185,000
Variable Compensation: $15,000 annual bonus target
