Position Overview :
Herbert Roofing and insulation LLC, a trusted name in roofing solutions for over 40 years, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented HR – Accounting Assistant to join our growing team in Saginaw, Michigan. This hybrid role combines human resources and accounting responsibilities, making it ideal for a versatile professional with experience in both areas.
The HR – Accounting Assistant will take ownership of the company’s HR processes, handle payroll and expense management, and support general accounting functions. This position requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
Key Responsibilities :
Human Resources :
Manage short-term and long-term recruitment needs.
Post job openings, screen applicants, conduct phone interviews, and coordinate in-person interviews.Onboarding & Offboarding :Lead the new hire onboarding and welcome orientation processes.
Oversee offboarding tasks, ensuring timely removal of system access and return of company equipment.Maintain and update employee records, including benefits enrollment, payroll setup, and company assets (phones, tablets, credit cards, etc.).Payroll Administration :Collect, review, and input timecards into QuickBooks for payroll processing.
Track and calculate commissions, ensuring accurate payouts to sales representatives.Process payroll weekly, enter payments into the banking system, and print / distribute pay stubs.Handle payroll tax liabilities, 401(k) contributions, and other deductions.Accounting & Expense Management :
Expense Tracking :Manage and reconcile company expenses, including Verizon accounts, credit cards, and gas cards (WEX).
Ensure proper documentation for all transactions and maintain accurate expense files.Oversee monthly recurring payments (leases, insurance, vendor contracts).Work closely with the Marketing Department to ensure proper budget allocations for marketing expenses.Banking & Financial Reporting :Reconcile daily banking records and initiate bank transfers as needed.
Maintain the CMS financial report.Assist with accounts payable and receivable; coordinate with vendors and process weekly payments.Enter journal entries and billing transactions into the accounting system.Qualifications :
Associate Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred.3 years of experience in HR, accounting, or administrative support roles.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).QuickBooks experience is required.Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Positive, proactive approach with a "can-do" attitude.Preferred Qualifications :Previous experience in HR or sales support is a plus.Familiarity with payroll processing, employee benefits, and compliance-related documentation.Herbert Roofing is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
