What are the responsibilities and job description for the Store Team Member position at Herbs Bait and Tackle?
We are seeking energetic, knowledgeable, and customer-oriented individuals to join Herb’s Team! The ideal candidate will be a positive person and have a passion for fishing and outdoor activities (and or willing to learn about it), excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities:
Summary:
- Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, assist them in selecting the right products and give them a good customer experience by listening and responding professionally.
- Knowledge: Requires a basic understanding of all product categories sold at Herb’s. It is
- also important to understand bait, tackle, and gear, and provide advice on local fishing spots and other boating related conditions. Training support will be provided in these areas.
- Sales: Ring up sales transactions accurately using a point-of-sale system, handle cash and credit card transactions, and maintain a clean and organized cashier station.
- Inventory Management: Receive, unpack, and stock merchandise, maintain inventory levels, conduct regular inventory counts, and assist in placing orders for restocking. This includes handling live bait like minnows, night crawlers, wax worms, etc.
- Visual Merchandising: Ensure that merchandise displays are attractive, well-organized, and properly stocked to maximize sales potential.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all store equipment is in working order and provide the general manager with issues and ideas for improvement which might arise.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the store, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and restocking supplies as needed.
- Compliance: Ensure that all products sold are appropriate and that legal age of the customer is validated on purchases that are restricted to certain ages, especially while working in the drive-thru.
- Drive-Thru Operations: Greet and service customers in their vehicles which includes gathering all products requested, checking proper ID’s and processing the transactions through the point-of-sale system.
Qualifications:
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling and inventory management.
- Basic knowledge of fishing equipment and tackle preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
