Production Manager

Job Purpose: Assure smooth, efficient day-to-day production operations and oversee production staff.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Ensure Production team members perform their tasks as outlined in their respective position descriptions.
  • Ensure good communication between all members of the Production and Shipping teams.
  • Ensure sufficient quantities of raw materials and supplies are available to support production needs.
  • Prioritize tasks based on customer demands.
  • Adjust personnel assignments as needed to meet the daily production demands and unplanned absences.
  • Coordinate personnel coverage for planned absences (vacations, wellness days, etc.).
  • Assure adherence to Safety, Quality and GMP standards in the Production area and Shipping areas.
  • Keep the Director of Manufacturing informed on morale issues within the Production and Shipping teams and make recommendations to address those issues.
  • Provide instructions/training to production technicians for hands-on production tasks.
  • Ensure production SOPs and work instructions are accurate and up to date
  • Develop and maintain production KPI’s
  • Actively participate in weekly Manufacturing team meetings
  • Develop and implement improvements to methods, equipment, layout, and workflow in the production process along with other Production/Shipping team members.
  • Review, critique, and implement improvements in work methods, equipment, layout and workflow that have been developed by others.
  • Encourage employees to submit new ideas for improvements and review employee suggestions for implementation.
  • Provide weekly updates to the Director of Manufacturing regarding the status of operations and special projects.
  • Complete the preparation of employee reviews and merit increase recommendations and submit to the Director of Manufacturing for discussion and review.
  • Conduct employee annual reviews.
  • Issue discipline to employees for various rule infractions
  • Develop an annual plan for cross-training and certification of employees.
  • Schedule employees for their annual forklift certification.
  • Ensure employees who are required to wear respirators are certified.

  • Proven track record of effectively managing teams in a production environment
  • Industry knowledge
  • Knowledge of applicable manufacturing safety and compliance rules and regulations
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed
  • Reliability and common sense
  • Good communication and conflict resolution skills
  • The ability to identify potential issues proactively and problem-solve

Work Environment:

  • Plant production environment with requisite machinery moving parts, machine noise and vibration
  • Work inside the main production facility where environment temperatures may fluctuate based on the season

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Perform General Physical Activities — Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Handle and Move Objects — Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Inspect Equipment, Structures, or Material — Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Get Information — Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources.
  • Operate Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment — Run, maneuver, navigate, or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, and passenger vehicles

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work:

Full-time exempt position; regular days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education or certification preferred
  • 5 or more years of relevant managerial experience

Work Authorization/ Security Clearance:

Must be able to prove ability to legally work in the USA

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
