Job Overview
The Lead Mechanic will play a vital role in supporting the branch's operations by utilizing their mechanical expertise to ensure all equipment is maintained in top working condition. This involves developing and implementing effective preventative maintenance programs, assigning and directing work to Mechanics, and monitoring work orders.
A successful candidate will be a master technician with excellent leadership skills, product knowledge, and a commitment to upholding high standards of quality within the branch.
- Perform major repairs on equipment using hand tools, machine tools, and measuring instruments.
- Assign and direct work to Mechanics.
- Monitor work orders.
- Address complaints and resolve problems in a timely and effective manner.
- Work closely with the Branch Manager/Shop Supervisor to ensure efficiency and profitability from the Service Department.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and propane systems.
- Conduct oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements, and assorted services.
- Recondition and replace assorted parts of heavy equipment.
- Operate and test equipment.
- Identify problem areas for significant wear or tear on equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs.
- Follow company procedures and protocols.
- BUILD POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH CUSTOMERS.
- PERFORM ADDITIONAL DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
