As a critical member of the Data & Analytics team, the Sr. BI Application Developer will work directly with internal business partners to design quality technical solutions to drive Herc Rentals business intelligence capabilities. This position will solve business challenges through the design, development, and support of applications brought to life with innovative architectures, data analytics, and digital solutions. While utilizing your deep working skill set with data integration and web development, you will have the opportunity to be a driving force leading change and delivering best in class technical solutions.
- Develop and support mission critical data integration programs and procedures between numerous on-prem and SaaS platforms
- Design, code, test, and analyze software programs and web applications including research, documenting, and modifying throughout the production lifecycle
- Engage key business partners to understand processes and propose technical solutions to existing challenges
- Work closely with Herc's Digital team on development and support of key customer facing applications
- Troubleshoot application issues with a resolution-first approach to minimize business and customer impact
- Manage and support internal and 3rd party API integrations
- Work with Information Security to identify and mitigate risks and vulnerabilities
- Focus on best practices and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide effective leadership and support to large projects
- Create required system documentation in compliance with Herc standards
- 6 Years of professional experience in application development
- 4 Years designing and integrating with a large data warehouse (Teradata preferred)
- 3 Years of Python experience, scripting, automation, and APIs
- 3 Years of Web development (VueJS strongly preferred)
- 3 Years of JavaScript experience
- AWS, Vue.JS, Snowflake, Alation, AppSync, DynamoDB, GraphQL, and .net experience will be a plus
- Working experience in at least one BI/reporting tool (Qlik strongly preferred)
- BA/BS in Computer Science, MIS or related field or work-related experience
- Ability to collaborate effectively with business partners, translating requirements into a product vision and roadmap
- Must be able to meet critical deadlines for high-visibility projects and work constructively while under pressure
- Must be strong with Python and popular packages such as Pandas and Flask
- Must be familiar with Progressive Web Apps (PWAs)
- Familiarity with change management and version control best practices
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent presentation and soft skills, able to present complex technical concepts to business partners and senior management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently
