The primary function is developing and managing all manufacturing/production scheduling daily and weekly to meet goals.  Utilizing Material Requirements Planning (MRP), ensures and facilitates adequate supply of all necessary materials and components for scheduled/released orders.  Also, directs shop personnel placement to their work-center based on scheduling needs.  Acts as shop liaison with Branch inquiries on specific needs or shortages.  Reviews and acts on inefficient work orders with Department Leads.  Supports Company initiatives and provides direction, development, and leadership to Production Lead personnel. M-Th 5am-3:30pm. In cases where the production department runs overtime on Fridays, the Production Manager needs to be onsite. $88,000-$93,000 annually DOE.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops, implements, trains, and modifies methods to improve personnel safety, productivity, and quality. Acts as plant safety point contact/lead.
  • Collects and analyzes morning shop back-order items and data to prioritize scheduling; find elements for improvement; creates time sensitive action plan to improve upon operation; triggers and directs corrective actions related to scheduling.
  • Assigns and manages shop employees to specific work functions and departments based upon production schedule.
  • Communicates production schedule with Maintenance Team to ensure timely and accurate machine change-overs.
  • Manage steel and sub-component items used in work orders, shop supplies, including box label printing; utilize weekly report to verify levels are correct. Coordinates shop material needs of raw materials with in production schedule, Steel Processing and/or Purchasing.
  • Reviews inefficient work orders weekly with individual employees and department leads. Sets improvement plan in place and manages to the desired/agreed outcome. Provides successes and corrective action summaries at Weekly Production meeting.
  • Minimizes non-productive/slow-moving manufacturing and warehouse inventory by promptly addressing overstock, slow-moving and dead items. Coordinates methods and means to consume usable raw materials in the manufacturing/fab process.
  • Manages and coordinates spiral pipe trailer placement with Distribution Center Management for timely and accurate loading.
  • Participates and contributes daily to shift turnover scheduling meeting.
  • Coordinates with Salt Lake City manufacturing and timely schedules needed collar and tube requests. Executes and coordinates timely inventory movements and shipment to Salt Lake City ordered components.
  • Participate in improving manufacturing operations by offering potential alternatives to existing operational methods, equipment layout, and overall process flow.
  • Reviews daily Quality Control sheets for accuracy and consistency in implementation; reports inaccuracies, changes or discrepancies to Plant Superintendent and takes appropriate action with Department Leads and Department workers.
  • Schedule, maintain, and manage vacation/time-off requests. Update calendar regularly.
  • Interview potential employee candidates, as necessary, for needed positions.
  • Manage and direct snow removal crew.
  • Lead and manage quarterly component inventories; reconciles inaccuracies and reports on root cause for discrepancies.
  • Participates in disciplinary discussions as needed/requested.
  • Participates in product meetings, seminars and training to enhance and maintain professional and product knowledge.
  • Share a trusting relationship with the manufacturing workgroup; manage and develop plant staff. Addresses shop employees’ issues or grievances as they arise.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • High school degree or GED; minimum 5 years related experience or combination of experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Experience in the sheet metal and HVAC industry a plus.
  • General knowledge of products and pricing.
  • Keen attention to detail and good analytical skills.
  • Flexible, organized and able to work under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of PC environment and MS Office programs including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience with Harris Data Systems a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with general office procedures.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

        LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to effectively communicate with customers and staff to make an accurate assessment of customer and branch needs. 

        MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to verify and calculate figures such as cost, commissions, credit, rebate and profit, understand and interpret financial data and reports and balance sheets.

        REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Ability to use sound judgment and problem-solving skills to analyze customer, branch and employee problems and to recommend the proper course of action. Ability to organize and prioritize job projects and requirements.

        COMPUTER SKILLS:  The job requires strong computer skills including intermediate level proficiency with the ability to master new computer applications quickly. This includes business software applications and the Microsoft software packages.

        Attendance is required Monday through Friday within normal business hours as established by Branch Management.  Employee may be occasionally required to work Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and overtime as needed. The facility is open during daylight hours and the Production Manager is expected to be present.
