What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Worker-Laser Operator position at Hercules Industries, Inc?
The Production Worker - Laser Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a laser cutting machine to cut metals. The Laser Operator must be able to read and interpret technical drawings and program the laser cutting machine accordingly. The Laser Operator is also responsible for performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting on the laser cutting machine. Additionally, the Laser Operator must be able to follow safety procedures and adhere to safety regulations.
$23.70-$29.00 per hour. M-F 6 am-2:30 pm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for performing daily machine startup and shut down operations
- Responsible for selecting and preparing materials for laser processing, ensuring they are properly loaded and positioned for cutting using forklifts and/or by hand
- Responsible for selecting appropriate cutting programs and adjusting laser parameters (like beam focus, power, and speed) based on the material type and desired outcome
- Responsible for assisting team members in de-nesting (part removal) functions by hand and/or with supplied tools
- Responsible for performing routine maintenance on the laser equipment, including cleaning, replacing parts, calibrating the equipment, and troubleshooting minor issues
- Responsible for keeping accurate records of production
- Operates forklift as required

- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience operating a forklift
- 1-year general work production/manufacturing experience preferred
- Ability to read and accurately use measuring tools including tape measure, caliper, micrometer
- Ability to perform assembly type functions using hand and/or power tools
- Ability to pass background check and drug screen
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to write and read routine reports or job orders. Ability to understand job instructions. Ability to speak, read and hear English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret, understand, and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS: The job requires intermediate computer skills including the ability to master new computer applications quickly.
ATTENDANCE DEMANDS: Attendance is required Monday through Friday within normal business hours as established by the supervisor. Employees may be required to work overtime.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Regularly exposed to vibration.
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Employee would be working both inside and outside and on elevated balconies.
- Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places.
- The noise level in the work environment is occasionally very loud.
