What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Quote Applications Engineer position at Hercules OEM?
As the Technical Quote Applications Engineer, you will liaise with the Commercial team to identify customer challenges, develop and communicate technical solutions, and bridge organizational needs with market opportunities. The Technical Quote Applications Engineer builds deep trust between Hercules OEM and the customer by ensuring that proposed solutions work to achieve the goals and challenges brought to the table. As the “right hand” to the sale, this role provides an opportunity to work both strategically, guiding and coaching the customer, and tactically, developing and quoting technical solutions. With a full understanding of the company portfolio, available industry solutions and customer’s operational issues, the Technical Quote Applications Engineer becomes a trusted advisor and helps both HOEM and the customer reach beyond stated objectives for mutual growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quote “Ideal Customer” opportunities:
- Conduct an initial technical review of a new opportunity
- Verify all pertinent information is present and that the part is suitable for technical quoting and not standard quoting.
- Determine the highest-value supplier(s) for the opportunity and add the quote to their quote log
- Send quotes to supplier(s) within timeline identified in Quote team KPIs
- Track all open quotes and follow up with suppliers
- Collaborate to provide technical support to commercial, quality, and supply chain teams, including application, design and manufacturing best-practices of technical sealing solutions
- Provide training and development services to team members and customers, helping them to build their skills and knowledge; i.e. “Lunch’n’Learn”
- Perform Reverse Engineering / Benchmarking analysis of “Ideal Customer” opportunities
- Assist with troubleshooting and problem resolution, maintain customer satisfaction, and ensure proper service levels
- Assist with supplier and sourcing partner qualification
- Travel, as required, in support of Commercial and Engineering activities
- Consistently demonstrate Hercules OEM CORE values
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Proficiency with CAD (preferably Solidworks).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with sealing solutions and material compounds.
- Strong listening and communication skills.
- The capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality or accuracy.
- Experience with using sales and negotiation strategies.
- Willingness to travel to multiple domestic US sites (up to 15%).
