Job Title: Rigger Technician

Reports To: Supervisor – Production

Department: Operations – Warehouse


Overview

The Rigger Technician prepares customer orders per ISO standards and company work instructions; ensuring product quality standards are consistently met.


Accountabilities & Impact

Expected Result: Prepares customer fabrication orders

Key Accountabilities

  • Fabricates, set ups, and repairs rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools according to customer requirements
  • Cuts wire rope and bend strands to meet specifications
  • Manufactures slings and wire rope for customer delivery
  • Ensures a quality product is produced, as per the company quality standards

Expected Result: Meets quality and production standards

Key Accountabilities

  • Follows Quality Control Procedures, as per ISO 9001:2000
  • Organizes, cleans, and ensures overall maintenance of the rigging workspace
  • Performs general labor and/or maintenance work
  • Maintains an efficient production speed with minimal quality issues
  • Records items used in production including lot control of wire
  • Reports low inventory levels for products used to aid in the replenishment
  • Follows process for requisition of materials and supplies for the rigging department
  • Stores inventory to ease accessibility, identification and reduce potential for damage
  • Participates in the annual physical inventory, as scheduled by management

Qualifications

Education

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Rigging course or equivalent relevant experience is an asset

Experience

  • Previous experience working with wire rope is considered a strong asset

Skills & Abilities

  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Able to make basic math calculations
  • Forklift Operator Safety Training

Work Conditions

  • Repetitive motion of hand and wrists including gripping, twisting, pulling, and pushing
  • Frequent bending and twisting of torso
  • Able to safely lift 50 lbs. from floor level to waist level
  • Able to climb ladders and work at heights over 10’
  • Able to stand periods of time on various ground conditions i.e. concrete, steel flooring
  • Adverse environmental conditions including hot/cold temperatures and inclement weather
  • In an industrial rigging warehouse environment, employees are exposed to various physical hazards, including the risk of injury from heavy machinery, moving loads, and lifting equipment. Potential hazards include being struck by or caught between moving parts, tools, or rigging gear; slips, trips, and falls on uneven or cluttered surfaces; and musculoskeletal injuries from manual handling of heavy materials. Employees must adhere to strict safety protocols, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and follow proper lifting and rigging techniques to mitigate these risks and ensure a safe working environment
