Job Overview
The Certified Peer Specialist plays a vital role in supporting individuals navigating their mental health and addiction recovery journeys. Duties
- Provide one-on-one support and mentoring to individuals facing mental health challenges or addiction issues.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage clients in their recovery process.
- Assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans and coping strategies.
- Facilitate group sessions focused on peer support, crisis intervention, and behavioral health education.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
- Conduct outreach activities to engage individuals who may benefit from peer support services.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
- Stay informed about community resources and services available for individuals in need of support.
Requirements
- Certification as a Peer Specialist is required.
- Experience in social work, behavioral health, or mental health counseling is preferred.
- Strong skills in crisis management and intervention techniques.
- Proficiency in motivational interviewing and addiction counseling principles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to empathize and connect with diverse populations.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of systems related to mental health care and community resources is advantageous.
