Job Overview
The Art therapist will work with individual clients, groups, or families by engaging them through the expressive arts continuum and utilizing the creative process in order to promote emotional regulation, self and social awareness, personal growth, and overall well-being. We believe everyone can do art therapy regardless of artistic skill and can benefit greatly from its healing potential. You will find that the art therapy client also enjoys working with a talk therapist, neurofeedback technician, psychiatrist, or other modalities all under one therapeutic roof at Here & Now. We provide a collaborative, supportive environment for an Art therapist to grow and hone their skills while being part of a dynamic and diverse team of professionals all working toward improving your client’s mental wellness.
Key Responsibilities
-Champion our integrated clinical approach through daily interactions with other clinicians, staff members, and clients.
-Conduct thorough assessments to understand clients' needs, strengths, and challenges. Develop treatment plans based on the assessment to address specific therapeutic goals.
-Design individualized art therapy sessions tailored to the unique needs, abilities, and preferences of each client. Modify treatment plans as necessary based on ongoing assessment and progress.
-Facilitate art therapy sessions that encourage self-expression and exploration through various art modalities. Provide a safe and supportive environment for clients to engage in the therapeutic process.
-Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including assessment notes, treatment plans, progress notes, and any other relevant documentation. Ensure compliance with ethical and legal standards regarding client confidentiality.
-Collaborate with other mental health professionals, healthcare providers, and support systems to provide comprehensive care for clients
-Adhere to ethical guidelines and standards set by professional organizations, such as the American Art Therapy Association (AATA). Stay informed about relevant laws and regulations related to the practice of art therapy in Illinois.
-Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with research, best practices, and new developments in the field of art therapy. Pursue additional certifications or training to enhance expertise in specific areas.
-Develop and implement a marketing strategy to attract new clients to the private practice.
-Manage the business aspects of the practice, including scheduling, billing, and financial record-keeping.
-Be prepared to handle crisis situations that may arise during therapy sessions. Have a plan in place for addressing emergencies and collaborating with appropriate emergency services when necessary.
-Be culturally competent and aware of the diverse backgrounds and experiences of clients. Continuously educate oneself on cultural humility and sensitivity in therapeutic practice.
Required Education & Professional Experience
- Licensed or soon to be licensed Art Therapist who is ready to hit the ground running with fellow Art therapists who have developed the department.. MA, ATR, LPC with Supervision Provided or LCPC required to meet State of IL requirements.
- Masters Level Degree Required
- Clinical experience in Art Therapy
Compensation
We offer competitive compensation including health benefits, paid time off and discounted wellness treatments.
There is also opportunity to take on a supervisory role for other art therapists.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week
