What's the role?
We are seeking a motivated Software Engineering Intern to join our HERE Mapmaking API team. Our service is the gateway to the HERE Mapmaking product, acting as an orchestrator and workflow manager for map catalogs and processes. It handles everything related to a map project, including activities, workflows, and project lifecycle management.
As an intern, you will work with backend services that enable seamless map data processing and project management. You will gain experience with scalable APIs, workflow automation, and cloud technologies while contributing to real-world projects that power HERE's Mapmaking ecosystem.
What You’ll Do?
- Work closely with senior software engineers to develop proof-of-concept solutions, minimum viable products, and fully deployable applications.
- Develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services that support map data processing and project management.
- Contribute to building and improving workflow automation for managing map catalogs, activities, and project lifecycles.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and Agile scrum ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives).
- Execute test plans, strategies, and test suites, with potential opportunities for test automation.
- Help enhance CI/CD pipelines and contribute to deployment automation in a cloud environment.
- Document technical solutions and present your work to team members and stakeholders.
Who are you?
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate, master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- A self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to learning.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that values innovation and adaptability.
- Proficient in Java (experience with Scala or Python is a plus, and openness to working with multiple technologies is essential).
- Familiar with SQL databases and version control systems like Git.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS preferred), CI/CD pipelines, or QA processes is a plus.
- Strong communication skills in English (Polish is a plus).
