Position Summary: Here Tomorrow is hiring an inpatient peer support specialist for our partnership with Baptist Health. This position will focus on engaging people who are voluntarily or involuntarily admitted to an inpatient behavioral health unit due to attempted self-harm and/or contemplating suicide. The Inpatient Peer Specialist will collaborate with the behavioral health team to identify individuals in need of timely access to mental healthcare and social support through the Here Tomorrow program. The Peer Specialist will work as a member of the clinical and therapeutic team under the direction of the Inpatient Behavioral Health leadership and the Here Tomorrow Director of Peer Services.

The Inpatient Peer Specialist will collaborate with the behavioral health team to identify individuals in need of timely access to mental healthcare and social support through the Here Tomorrow program. The Peer Specialist will work as a member of the clinical and therapeutic team under the direction of the Inpatient Behavioral Health leadership and the Here Tomorrow Director of Peer Services.
Responsibilities:
- The primary responsibility of the Peer Specialist is to assist with linkage to mental health treatment and supportive services for adults with severe mental illnesses who are currently receiving services on the inpatient behavior health unit.
- Provide peer support during crisis to individuals who are admitted to the inpatient behavior health unit.
- Collaborate with inpatient behavior health team to identify individuals that meet criteria for enrollment in Here Tomorrow program.
- Assist and coach recovering people to develop their own plan for advancing recovery and creating the life they want.
- Document all service activities in Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Promote peer relationships and peer model with patients meeting criteria to facilitate enrollment in Here Tomorrow services.
- Collaborate with team to develop innovative approaches for engaging at-risk individuals, their families and those who may be able to intervene to prevent tragedy.
- Assist with conducting support meetings and responding to patient emergencies as needed.
- Attend daily hospital team huddles.
- Attend hospital treatment team meetings and clinical rounds.
- Maintain daily activity log.
- Maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications
- Peer support specialist experience required.
- Applicants must be certified or eligible for certification obtained within 12 months as a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) or Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) in the State of Florida.
- Must feel comfortable working in an inpatient hospital setting.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
- Knowledge of peer and recovery principles and practices.
