What are the responsibilities and job description for the HJH/HPA SPECIAL ED LIFESKILLS TEACHER position at Hereford ISD?
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas Teaching certificate, with required endorsements for the subject/level assigned
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Must have general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with significant cognitive, physical, or developmental disabilities.
- Involves working closely with students, families, supervising support staff, and other educators to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ensure each student reaches their maximum potential in academic, functional, and life skills.
EXPERIENCE:
- Recommend teaching certification in special education, at least 1 year of student teaching or approved mentorship/internship.
Work Conditions:
May require lifting and positioning students with physical disabilities.Requires flexibility in schedule to meet student needs.
Collaboration with related service providers (e.g., OT, PT, SLP).
