Non-Instructional Assistant
Position Summary
Heritage provides parents and scholars with a friendly and orderly environment. As an integral part of Heritage Academy, this position will assist the faculty in helping all scholars in a friendly and professional manner while adhering to all practices consistent with Heritage culture, strategy, and values.
Duties & Responsibilities
Monitor the activities of students in the cafeteria and/or on the playground.
Counsel and/or intervene with students to ensure acceptable behavior.
Guide children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
Report observations and/or incidents relating to students to appropriate school personnel.
Respond to emergencies to address safety concerns.
Assist students during lunchtime.
Perform routine cleaning tasks (clean up spills on tables, floor, etc.).
Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Assist students, parents, and staff to provide safe access to and from school.
Maintains a friendly, but professional, attitude with the students, staff, and parents.
Must relate positively with parents, staff, students, and administration at all times.
Regular and on-time attendance required.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths
Education: High School education or equivalent required
Experience: Experience working with and/or supervising children
Type of fingerprint clearance: Shall be fingerprint checked pursuant to A.R.S 15-512
Special Skills:
Must be able to manage small groups of children
Ability to work well with students, staff, and parents
Ability to enforce school rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with students, parents, and staff
Physical functions: Must be able to move around the campus, both inside and outside, for 75% of the time; may occasionally be stationary (sitting or standing) for 25% of the time. Occasional lifting, carrying, pulling, running, and/or throwing.
Equipment used: Occasional computer, telephone, and office equipment use is expected.
Work Environment: May be required to move or position equipment up to 30 pounds. Will be exposed to outdoor weather.
