Assistant IT Technician
Position Summary
Under the direction of the IT Director, the IT Technician is responsible for the maintenance of computer and network equipment to ensure they are in operating condition and meeting the technology needs of the school. The IT Technician creates documentation for end users and for the IT Team related to system maintenance. The IT Technician travels between campuses as required to answer the needs of the Principals and Staff at those locations. Travel between all four Heritage Campuses is required.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assesses malfunctions of hardware and software for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to keep data systems running reliably
Coordinates with IT staff, and the school administration, for the purpose of completing tasks efficiently using the Issue Tracking system
Inspects computer and network equipment requiring specialized computer repair and troubleshooting skills for the purpose of identifying and verifying repair needs
Gathers needs from staff and makes recommendations to the IT team regarding supported hardware and software systems
Repairs computers, peripherals, and network equipment, or upon direction may send equipment off for repair to selected vendors
Performs regular systems analysis and reviews over processes as directed by the IT Team for the purpose of making documentation and recommendations on improvements
Installs printers, computers, network switches, projectors, voip devices and other devices as required
Pull cables for video distribution, or category 6 cable, or other low voltage wire as required and as directed by the IT Director
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience: 1-2 years of experience in an IT role; educational setting preferred

Proficient with computers and office software applications including MS Office tools, and internet search engines
Outstanding organizational skills
Type of fingerprint clearance: Shall be fingerprint checked pursuant to A.R.S 15-512
Physical functions: Significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 20% walking, 15% manual labor performing installations and 15% standing. Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more safely.
Equipment used: Computer and Network IT equipment
Work Environment: May be required to move or position equipment up to 15-50 pounds. May be exposed to outdoor weather. Must be able to climb ladders and use basic tools.
