Overview: Oasis Associate

Heritage has job openings for individuals to work with the homeless population at Heritage's Oasis Day and Resource Center in Decatur/Macon County. The Oasis Day Center is traditionally open 10 hours each day (7 a.m. - 5 p.m.), 365 days a year.

Core Responsibilities Include:

• Linkage for our guests to appropriate services
• Advocacy, client centered consultation, monitoring and assessment of client needs
• Building of relationships
• Assisting individuals in navigating the employment process
• Monitoring of the physical environment (both indoors and outdoors).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Provide excellent customer service
• Compassion, patience, and understanding of the homeless population's challenges
• Ability to comply with the rules and regulations of those organizations to which we are accountable
• High ethical and professional standards of conduct
• Possess the flexibility to work with "high risk" clients with complicated problems
• Possess an attitude of wanting to continuously improve their own performance as well as that of Heritage
• Above average computer skills (hardware/software)
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work within a team-based environment
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work alternating weekends and holidays on a routine basis.

Education and Experience:

• A minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required
• Previous experience of working with the seriously and persistently mentally ill, substance using, and/or homeless populations is recommended
• Experience providing support to individuals in obtaining employment is highly desirable
• A valid Illinois driver's license, reliable means of transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance are also required of all Heritage employees.

Salary Range: $37,440-$45,760 per year ($18.00 - $22.00 per hour) - dependent on education and experience
