INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT - ESS
POSITION OBJECTIVE: To support an individual student by performing daily duties and responsibilities that assist in the student’s care and education.
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS: The employee must be a Christian with an authentic and a mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ, who agrees to the HCS Statement of Faith, Charter of Core Values and Employee Covenant in both their professional conduct and personal lifestyle. The employee is committed to incorporating these qualities and standards in carrying out the calling to Christian education. In addition, the ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships, representing Christ and HCS professionally and positively with the HCS community-at-large, including faculty and staff, Board members, parents, volunteers and others is crucial to the success of this role. The teacher’s assistant must have a love for children and the ability to work effectively with individual children, small groups, and whole classrooms. Qualified candidates should be able to take directions from various teachers and demonstrate flexibility in daily routines. The ability to maintain confidentiality is a must.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: H.S. Diploma, a bachelor's degree in education or related area of study preferred.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the classroom teacher by working one on one or with small groups of students to reinforce skills taught in the class and perform miscellaneous routine duties under the direction of the teacher.

Maintain accurate records, assist with the implementation of Service Plans

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position. Must be able to traverse campus and sports fields and facilities. Must be able to use a computer and other audio-visual equipment. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs. Must be able to communicate with others. Specific vision abilities required in this position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to hear low-volume sounds. Must be able to assist children for health and safety reasons
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Indoors, outdoors, changes in temperature/humidity; potential for excessive noise, Exposure to the elements is to be expected while assisting with outdoor field and court preparation and oversight of Athletic events and management responsibilities. The role involves both office work and on-site presence at athletic events, training sessions, and program activities.
