Overview
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Working under the direction of the Senior Associate Director of Day Services, the Educator will be instrumental in the successful unitization of adaptive technology within day habilitation programs. The Educator will support and educate Direct Support Professionals with the use of adaptive technology for people with ID/DD. To support the mission, vision and values of Heritage Christian Services, Inc.
Pay for this position: $22.58 / hr - $24.09 / hr
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting
Responsibilities
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
To facilitate a philosophy within service delivery that supports: self-direction, community participation and contribution, productivity, full citizenship, diversity, equity and inclusion.
Inspire and reinforce the continuous development of a person-centered and quality focused culture that is reflective of the agency’s’ mission, vision and values.
To access any adaptive technology needs for participants.
To develop individualized technology plans for people with ID/DD.
To create and maintain a technology resource guide for each day habilitation program.
Responsible for understanding current best practices related to adaptive technology for the ID/DD population.
To evaluate emerging technology and potential implementation within programs.
To serve as a representative with adaptive technology venders and Heritage Christian Services’ IT department.
To educate staff in specific learning styles of the participants.
To serve as a resource for Day Hab Managers in the development of Staff Action Plans.
To educate Direct Support Professionals in the utilization of technology with individuals with ID/DD.
To work in conjunction with site manager to meet the adaptive technology needs of people with ID/DD.
To ensure that all aspects of participant care and business conduct are performed in compliance with our mission statement, policies and procedures, and applicable governmental laws, rules and regulations.
Qualifications
Associate degree in related field
A valid, New York state driver’s license that is in compliance with Heritage Christian Services motor vehicle record standards.
The ability to work at multiple programs per day
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience supporting ppl with ID/DD in the use of technology preferred
