What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Irrigation Technician position at Heritage Commercial?
Maintenance & Repair:
- Conduct regular inspections to identify issues and perform preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components.
- Perform seasonal tasks such as winterization and system charging/draining.
- Maintain and update maintenance schedules and system logs.
Technical Oversight & Coordination:
- Operate and maintain timer irrigation control systems.
- Use tracer/locator equipment to accurately locate valves.
- Draw up plans and schematics detailing the locations and configurations of valves, control boxes, and irrigation zones.
- Coordinate with landscaping and maintenance teams to ensure integrated property management.
- Prepare detailed work reports, cost estimates, and inventory assessments.
- Assist in system design reviews and recommend upgrades or modifications.
Leadership & Training:
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements (e.g., backflow prevention certification).
Experience & Education:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Proven experience with commercial irrigation systems.
- High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training or certifications are preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of irrigation controllers, plumbing, and electrical components.
- Proficiency in using tracer/locator tools to identify system components.
- Experience in drafting technical plans and schematics for irrigation systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
Certifications & Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Relevant certifications such as backflow prevention or equivalent are preferred.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Extended periods of walking, bending, kneeling, and standing.
- Capacity to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Availability for emergency calls as needed.
