Job Summary
The Care Assistant provides direct care and support to residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This position requires a warm, approachable individual with a strong work ethic, hospitality, excellent customer service skills, and a genuine desire to enhance the quality of life for residents. The Care Assistant must be able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Expectations
- Maintain a record of regular and predictable attendance.
- Provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, and personal hygiene.
- Assist residents in participating in daily activities, such as escorting them to meals and recreational activities.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by being courteous, prompt, and dependable to both residents, staff and external customers.
- Communicate effectively with residents, team members, and families, using positive and respectful language.
- Monitor and record residents' physical and emotional well-being, promptly reporting any changes to the appropriate team members, including managers and medication leads.
- Utilize provider communication book to document changes in residents’ behavior, cognitive function, or physical health.
- Assist residents in any or all Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) including but not limited to: Bathing/Showering, Oral Care, Eating, Shaving, Toileting, Changing Incontinent Products, escorting to Life Enrichment activities, bringing to meals, etc.
- Ensure residents’ care plans are followed and updated, providing personalized care as required.
- Document observations and care provided in the Electronic Health Record or paper chart, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Attend all mandatory in-service training and staff meetings
- Adhere to Residents’ Rights policies and always maintain the confidentiality of resident and facility information.
- Collaborate cooperatively with residents, care team, physicians, families, consultants, agencies, and ancillary service providers.
- Ensure the safety and security of residents by following safety protocols and infection control procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to meet the needs of the facility and residents.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- Prior experience in a healthcare or home care setting is preferred but not required.
- Experience working with elderly individuals and those with memory impairments, either paid or volunteer, is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Ability to understand and follow established policies and procedures.
- Strong customer service skills, adhering to organizational standards.

Certifications/Licenses:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Completion of mandatory in-service training, both online and in-person, as required.
Work Environment
- Ability to function effectively in high-stress situations.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Physical capability to walk, bend, squat, and climb stairs as needed to support resident care.
- Good overall physical condition, with no limitations that would prevent performing essential job duties.
