Job Summary
The Homecare Caregiver is responsible for delivering personal and supportive care, including bathing, feeding, grooming, and medication reminders, to clients or residents in their homes or within Heritage’s Assisted Living or Memory Care communities. Duties performed in a residence may include housekeeping tasks (such as making beds, doing laundry, and washing dishes) and meal preparation to support clients in maintaining their independence at home.
Expectations
- Maintain a record of regular and predictable attendance.
- Administer bedside and personal care, including ambulation and personal hygiene assistance.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of client progress and services performed, reporting any changes in client condition to the Manager of Homecare.
- Perform housekeeping duties, including cooking, cleaning, laundry, and running errands.
- Carry out health care-related tasks such as monitoring vital signs and medication administration under the guidance of the Manager of Homecare.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the client’s care plan in collaboration with the Manager of Homecare.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for clients.
- Adhere to proper infection control methods in the client’s environment according to Heritage guidelines.
- Assist clients with medication administration.
- Provide reliable transportation to and from client residences and for errands or incidental transportation as needed.
Qualifications
Education:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Experience:
- No experience necessary.
Skills:
- Strong service orientation, with excellent active listening, critical thinking skills, and close monitoring of clients.
- Comfortable working in environments where clients may have difficulty performing basic daily tasks.
- Understanding of personal care concepts, housekeeping, and other relevant care areas.
- Knowledge of asepsis and universal precautions.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Must possess a valid in-state driver’s license, provide current vehicle registration and insurance, and maintain a driving record with no more than 2 points in the past 3 years.
Work Environment
- Ability to reach with hands and arms; stand for prolonged periods; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as necessary.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds when required.
