The Collector II position handles collection activities on past-due member accounts, including loans, credit cards, and other consumer products. The role focuses on early and late-stage delinquencies and total asset loss scenarios. It also involves maintaining strong communication with internal departments and external third parties, and supporting other collection projects as needed
What you’ll do:
- Maintain a current and detailed understanding of past due consumer (Auto/Vehicle, Credit Cards, Other Secured/Unsecured) and mortgage (mortgages, HELOC’s and other Home Equity) loan products.
- Call borrowers on past due loans to obtain payment and/or make payment arrangements.
- Discuss and potentially offer financial arrangements to members on their delinquent account(s), in order to alleviate past due status
- Maintain strong documentation/notation of all correspondence on accounts worked.
- Review accounts for potential repossession and submit recommendations to Collections Manager for review and approval.
- Stay up to date on all collection policies and best practices.
- Adhere to all collection laws and regulations to ensure proper policies and practices are maintained.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Five years or more collection experience, preferably all stages of delinquency, and remedial proposals.
- Knowledge of collection procedures and related laws and regulations.
- Familiar with default and enforcement clauses.
- Basic understanding of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
- Understanding of applicable repossession laws.
- Excellent organizational skills, as well strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently.
