The IT Technician provides end-user (helpdesk) support and troubleshooting for all organizational personnel. This person is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the local area network hardware, as well as OS, Software, email and firewall administration. They will also play a role in coordinating field installations and upgrade initiatives. This would include assisting the IT staff in facilitating field activities such as upgrading systems with the latest versions of software, the rollout of new hardware and field training.
Requirements
- Any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described.
- A typical qualifying background would include progressively responsible computer operations; experience in operating both large and small scale computer systems; experience using a variety of operating systems, software, hardware and networks.
- Troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose issue and repair (Helpdesk)
- Ability to work with others
- A certification preferred
Your Essential Duties:
• Performs and maintains system, security, and application backups.
• Installs and maintains local and remote peripheral computer equipment.
• Prepares reports on equipment problems.
• Monitors reports for security violations.
• Monitors systems for abnormal job terminations and operating problems.
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance on computer equipment and peripherals.
• Documents all network hardware and maintain inventory database.
• Installs and supports software/hardware applications and peripheral equipment.
• Research user inquiries and new technology.
• Troubleshoots and resolves computer operating, software/hardware problems and provides
technical support as requested.
• Communicates with vendors to resolve issues.
• Provides information to staff and users, and prepares and maintains documentation for
processes, policies and procedures related to computer systems and operations.
• Updates software for users as released by vendor.
• Provides training and technical advice.
• Serves as department information resource to assist staff and users with computer network,
software/hardware and related problems.
• Communicates technical concepts in non-technical terms.
• Maintains confidentiality of information and data related to patients and staff.
• Installs cabling infrastructure.
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Your Success Factors
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business
correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond
to questions from managers and employees.

• Administrative understanding of the following is required: networking and telecommunications
(data), routers, switches, understanding of TCP/IP WANs and LAN, Office 365, Windows
operating systems, Microsoft Office, Internet connectivity, HTTP, FTP, firewalls, Active Directory,
VPNs and Virtual Environments.
Job Overview
Working Conditions: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment in an
office building. Work may be demanding and chaotic at times. May be exposed to patient population
that will present a variety of contagious diseases, physical injuries and emotional states of mind.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• May lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to access and navigate various departments of a given location.
• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy or stressful environment.
• Must be able to adhere to process protocol.
