Learning opportunities include by are not limited to: experience working with diverse client populations, including populations struggling with homelessness, mental illness, substance use, and other environmental and developmental issues. Opportunities to learn and expand a wide range of clinical and professional skill sets appropriate for bachelor level students will be provided including; communication skills, interpersonal skills, cultural competence, problem-solving and critical thinking skills that will prepare you for assessing and evaluating information needed to make sound judgments. You will also have opportunities for advocacy and empowerment at a micro and a macro level while developing and strengthening NASW aligned professionalism.
Additional skills include organizational skills, case management and care coordination skills, research skills, and interpersonal skills aimed at building and maintaining trusting, effective relationships with clients and community stakeholders. Lastly, you will have opportunities to gain skills and experience working within multidisciplinary teams. All bachelor’s level interns will be provided with weekly supervision by the onsite clinical supervisor.
