Position Overview :
The Technician at AccessAble is a skilled, hands-on professional responsible for installing home modifications, performing in-home assessments, and completing minor repairs to improve safety, accessibility, and air quality for our clients. This role requires someone comfortable working with tools, solving problems on-site, and interacting directly with clients in their homes.
This position is 75% field-based, traveling throughout Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties to complete installations and assessments. The ideal candidate has experience in general home repairs, construction, or handyman services, with a strong commitment to quality, safety, and customer service.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities :
Perform home modifications to improve accessibility, including installing grab bars, ramps, and stair rails, widening doorways, and making bathrooms wheelchair accessible.
Conduct in-home assessments, taking measurements and photos to determine the feasibility of requested modifications.
Complete minor repairs and installations, such as patching drywall, replacing air filters, installing HEPA-filtered vacuums and dehumidifiers, and conducting minor mold removal as part of our Asthma Remediation services.
Ensure all modifications comply with building codes, accessibility standards, and best practices for safety and effectiveness.
Work closely with the Certified Environmental Access Consultant to understand each client’s needs and deliver customized home accessibility solutions.
Maintain detailed records of services provided, materials used, and client feedback to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Manage tools, materials, and supplies, ensuring efficient use and proper inventory tracking.
Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on the latest techniques, tools, and technologies in home modifications and asthma remediation.
Qualifications :
Hands-on experience in home modifications, handyman work, construction, or general home repair (e.g., installing grab bars, patching drywall, minor plumbing, electrical work, or carpentry).
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to unique home environments and client needs.
Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact compassionately with individuals facing health and mobility challenges.
Ability to work independently and efficiently while managing multiple service calls per day.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.
Ability to lift and carry materials and tools as needed for installations.
