Hotel Maintenance Technician
Position Summary:
The Hotel Maintenance Technician ensures that all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems operate efficiently and safely. They perform preventive maintenance and repair tasks to maintain a comfortable and secure environment for guests and staff, adhering to hotel standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preventive Maintenance:
- Perform routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and hotel systems.
- Schedule and execute regular preventive maintenance tasks for HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, elevators, and other critical infrastructure.
- Repairs:
- Address and resolve maintenance issues reported by guests or staff promptly.
- Repair or replace defective plumbing fixtures, electrical components, and appliances as needed.
- Handle minor carpentry and painting projects to maintain aesthetic standards.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all equipment operates within safety standards and codes.
- Monitor fire alarm systems, sprinklers, and emergency systems to ensure functionality.
- Follow OSHA guidelines and hotel-specific safety protocols.
- Emergency Response:
- Respond quickly to urgent repair needs, including leaks, electrical outages, or HVAC system failures.
- Maintain availability for on-call support in emergencies.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate logs of completed tasks, maintenance requests, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Communicate with hotel management about potential maintenance concerns and suggest long-term solutions.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of tools, supplies, and replacement parts.
- Coordinate with suppliers for the timely replenishment of stock.
- Guest Interaction:
- Provide courteous and professional service when interacting with guests.
- Respect guest privacy and ensure work is conducted discreetly in occupied rooms.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
Prior experience in hotel maintenance or a similar role is preferred. Hands-on expertise in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or carpentry is highly desirable.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or certifications in relevant fields (e.g., HVAC, electrical systems) are a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Effective communication skills to interact with staff and guests.
- Basic computer skills for logging maintenance records.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), climb ladders, and perform tasks that require physical stamina.
- Comfortable working in various conditions, including confined spaces and outdoor settings.
Work Environment:
This role requires flexibility, as maintenance work may occur during mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays. The position may also involve responding to on-call emergencies after hours.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
