Staff Development and Professional Support
Nursing
Director of Nursing
Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM). Must be flexible with hours and shifts as required to meet facility needs.
The Staff Development and Professional Support position is responsible for organizing and conducting nursing education programs, ensuring staff competency, and maintaining compliance with facility policies and state regulations. This role includes training staff, monitoring compliance, conducting audits, and assisting with resident care as needed.
Education & Training
- Develop and conduct staff education programs, including ongoing training.
- Organize and perform staff competency and skills checks.
- Maintain training records and track compliance with mandatory education requirements.
- Manage Relias training platform, including course assignments and completion tracking.
- Point of contact for new nurses in the nursing department.
Resident Care & Compliance
- Assist in developing and implementing nursing care plans.
- Conduct audits related to resident care and implement corrective action plans as approved by the DON/ADON.
- Ensure assigned duties of nursing aides are completed effectively.
- Participate in frequent rounds to monitor resident conditions and staff performance.
- Collaborate with HR to distribute and collect necessary nursing personnel forms.
- Assist in interviewing STNAs and evaluating competency levels.
Supply & Inventory Management
- Conduct weekly inventory of nursing supplies and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Place orders for nursing supplies and ensure proper distribution upon arrival.
Leadership & Support
- Assists and directs the activities of STNA’s as in reference to assignments, and assists in monitoring of work completion under the direction of the DON and the ADON.
- Promote a positive customer service environment for residents, families, and staff.
- Support floor nurses, social workers, and admissions staff as needed, during periods of high workload or when staff is out on PTO/leave.
- Assist the DON/ADON with staffing assignments and adjustments.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide CPR and first aid as required.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, personnel, and external agencies.
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift, squat, and perform fine hand coordination.
- Ability to detect emergencies through visual and auditory acuity.
- Ability to remain calm and resourceful in stressful situations.
- Ability to distinguish smells and temperature variations.
- Current LPN licensure in Ohio.
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Experience in geriatric care and long-term care settings preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with nursing personnel, staff, and residents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and electronic training platforms.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely assist with resident transfers.
- Flexibility to adjust hours and shifts as needed to meet facility requirements.
