The Resident Assistant plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to residents in an assisted living facility. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide direct support to residents in their daily activities and encourage independence whenever possible.
- Maintain cleanliness in resident rooms and common areas to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
- Monitor resident behavior and report any changes or concerns to nursing staff or management.
- Help residents with mobility needs, including lifting or transferring them safely as required.
- Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to enhance their emotional well-being.
- Documenting duties completed and other documentation as assigned
- Administer medications according to the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and as delegated by the RN Supervisor
Skills
- Strong caregiving skills with experience in direct support roles preferred.
- Familiarity with systems used in nursing homes or assisted living facilities is advantageous.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques to effectively support residents' needs.
- Ability to perform basic first aid and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and staff members.
- Physical capability to lift and assist residents as required while maintaining safety protocols.
- A background in social work or related fields is a plus but not mandatory.
